Ajax official:Dusan Tadic terminates the contract early
Tadic, 34, joined Ajax from Southampton in 2018 and has scored 105 goals and provided 112 assists in 241 appearances for the team. He has won three Eredivisie titles and two KNVB Cups with the club. In the 2018-2019 season, he helped Ajax reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, which was their best performance in European competitions in recent years.
Earlier, Dutch newspaper "De Telegraaf" reported that Tadic was dissatisfied with the team's transfer strategy and current squad, leading to his decision to leave. Last season, Ajax finished third in the league and missed out on the Champions League. Marc Overmars, Ajax's technical director, revealed that it was Tadic who requested to terminate his contract: "His departure is a blow, and we had hoped to keep him. But we respect his request and wish him all the best in his future career. If he wants to pursue a coaching career in the future, he will always be welcome here."
Tadic stated, "The decision to leave was a difficult one, but I believe it is the right time, not only for me but also for the club. I have had unforgettable moments at Ajax and achieved incredible success that I had never experienced in my previous career. I want to thank all the fans who have made my time here so wonderful. If it were up to me, this is not a final farewell. I will always be a part of Ajax, and I hope to return to Amsterdam soon in a different role—as a coach."
