J-League team Vissel Kobe officially announces the departure of 35-year-old Mata, as his contract has expired. Despite joining, Mata only played for 10 minutes and contributed to the team's J-League championship.
Official statement from Vissel Kobe: "We would like to inform everyone that due to the expiration of his contract, midfielder Mata has decided to leave the team." Mata commented, "I am very happy to be part of the club's historic moment, winning the league title for the first time. I will never forget these memories."
At the age of 35, Mata, who left Galatasaray on a free transfer last summer, joined Vissel Kobe in September but played only one match, featuring for 10 minutes, and contributed to the team's J-League championship.
